The bunny that just came to be.

One October day, I placed an order for a new-to-me yarn that I intended to use for an entirely different project. Little did I know that as soon as the parcel arrived, it would turn into something completely unexpected.

My son was right beside me as I slowly opened the craft-paper package. I gently unwrapped the layers and finally reached the most beautiful, squishy skein of yarn—a deliciously creamy bouclé. I fell in love instantly… and so did my son. He grabbed it and pressed it right against his face. And in that exact moment, I knew this yarn had to become something else.

After a bit of negotiation, I managed to get the skein back, and it went straight onto my needles.

A few years ago, I created a little bunny patch—a sweet, simple design that uses less than 10 grams of yarn. It’s perfect for adorning a beloved garment or covering a small stain or hole. I now keep a small pile of them ready to use whenever inspiration strikes. That tiny bunny face has always made me smile.

So when I finally retrieved my squishy skein from my son, I knew—I knew—that it had to become a plush version of that same little bunny patch

In less than three hours, the design was finished, stuffed with local wool I had purchased at a festival last year, and ready to be wrapped for my son’s second birthday. That was it. My handmade, rustic momma heart was so full. I loved being able to use natural, local materials to create something with my own two hands—something that cost so little, yet will be cherished for a very long time.

You can now find a copy of BunBun here, and in case you would like to check the little bunny patch too here’s the link for it.

Ps: Thank you for making it this far! Back in the day, I used to write a blog, you know, when that was still a thing! And I do miss this “old fashion way” of documenting life and projects. So whenever I fill inspired, I’ll be feeding this little corner of my website with cosy entries. It might be knitting-related or not! Talk to you soon!
